Women's History Month


March is Women's History Month! This year's theme is "Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope," which is "both a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic and also a recognition of the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing. and hope throughout history." Throughout the month, take time to recognize the accomplishments and achievements women have made throughout history.

World Wildlife Day - March 3rd


Unwind from a stressful day and watch some wildlife live streams! World Wildlife Day is about raising awareness for endangered species, such as the Sumatran Rhino and the Sunda Tiger. This year’s theme is all about “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration". Learn more about how you and your team can do your part!

Engagement Ideas
  • Take some time over your lunch break and watch a fun livestream of some wildlife!
  • Share a photo and a fun fact of your favourite wildlife animal with your team
  • Join a virtual event to learn how you can better our ecosystems and help endangered species

Employee Appreciation Day - March 4th


If you’re a manager, or a boss, take some time today to recognize and support all the hard work and effort your employees put forth each and every day. Even if you aren’t, support a colleague and show how much their dedication is appreciated by your team! It could be as simple as an email, or as easy as a coffee, but share the appreciation today!
Engagement Ideas
  • Have a virtual meeting with your team and discuss non-work related, fun topics!
  • Buy a coworker a coffee, make them a card, or even write them a simple email of appreciation
  • You don’t need to buy or award your employees with anything on this day, a simple acknowledgement that their hard work does not go unnoticed will surely put a smile on their face

International Women's Day - March 8th


International Women’s Day is all about commemorating the cultural, political and socioeconomic achievements of women throughout history. Help raise awareness for the gender inequality suffered by women for decades, value all the advancements made, and appreciate their efforts.

Engagement Ideas
  • Follow the hashtag #BreaktheBias and share your break the bias pose with your team
  • Search for your area to find a nearby or virtual event to join
  • Research some advancements women have made throughout history! You may be surprised just how many they’ve made

National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day - March 10th


You. Me. We. Let’s change the face of HIV. HIV/AIDS is unfortunately not widely recognized in the worldwide female population. This day strives to change that. Gender based violence and inequality is increasing HIV/AIDS vulnerability on a global scale. On this day, we stand strong to fight for the rights, protection and dignity of all women.

Engagement Ideas
  • On March 10th, spread the hashtag #NWGHAAD to help increase awareness of Women and Girls living with HIV, and to change the face of HIV
  • Discuss resources and materials and understand the importance of knowing this information!
  • Organize a walk with friends, family or coworkers for 16 minutes to show your support for the 16th year of NWGHAAD by Women’s Health

Plant a Flower Day - March 12th


Spring is just around the corner! Scrape away the slushy snow residue on the ground and plant a gorgeous flower in your garden. Let it be a reminder of physical and mental growth every day you see it. Share your planting with your coworkers, friends or family and grow a beautiful plethora of flowers! If you are unable to plant a flower, buy a bouquet, place them on your desk, and let their beauty inspire you to do something amazing today!

Daylight Savings - March 13th


Turn those clocks forward and enjoy the extra sunshine in your day! Enjoy the longer day and watch the sunset at a later time with your close friends. We can just disregard the fact that we lose a little bit of sleep…

  • Have an open conversation with your team on their thoughts of whether we should keep daylight savings
  • Take a break during your day to read a brief history of daylight savings

National Pi Day - March 14th


3.14159… I forget the rest. Pi is a mathematical constant used to calculate the circumference of a circle. It is also known as the longest running numerical constant in all mathematical equations! It’s defined as an infinite decimal and goes on and on and on and on…
Engagement Ideas
  • See which employee can say the most number of digits in the Pi sequence
  • Have a slice of pie (or a whole pie!) over a virtual get together with friends or a meeting with coworkers
  • Test your coworkers to see who knows how π is actually used in a mathematical equation

St. Patrick's Day - March 17th


Deck yourself out in green from head to toe - it’s St. Patrick’s Day! This cultural and religious holiday was founded from the death of the patron saint of Ireland. Celebrate this day with some traditional Irish food, surrounded by friends and family, and drink some Irish stout during Happy Hour - you could even dye it green!

Engagement Ideas
  • Read about some of the history of St. Patrick while sipping on a Guinness
  • Wear green with your coworkers during a meeting!
  • Try cooking up some traditional Irish dishes for dinner with some friends and family

World Sleep Day - March 18th


After a long stressful day at work, unwind with an activity that makes you feel relaxed and calm. Get to bed early tonight and allow sleep to restore your mind and body to help you feel refreshed and ready to tackle the next day.

Engagement Ideas
  • Head to bed early tonight and make sure you get a long, restful sleep
  • Learn about the benefits of a good night’s sleep and how lack of sleep can affect you greater than you would've thought
  • Try a sleep calculator to find the best bed time for you to function as your best

International Day of Happiness - March 20


Happiness presents itself in various ways for different people - it cannot be measured! On this day, engage in things that make you happy! Read a book in the park, go on a walk, make yourself a fancy dinner! Feel free to share the things that make you happy with your coworkers or friends and family.
Engagement Ideas
  • Share what makes you happy with your teammates during a meeting, they might find a new activity to love too
  • Create a joy list - write down things that make you happy, try to engage daily or weekly to relieve some stress!
  • Do something kind for someone else to give happiness to another!

World Down Syndrome Day - March 21


Trisomy 21, also known as Down Syndrome, is a genetic duplication of the chromosome 21 resulting in 3 chromosomes rather than 2! To show your support on this day, wear odd socks - this originated back in 2013 when it was noticed that a single sock looks quite similar to a chromosome!
Engagement Ideas
  • Wear mismatched socks to show your support! Snap a photo of them to share with your coworkers
  • Share your insight on the #inclusionmeans to you by having an open discussion with your teammates or on social media!

World Water Day - March 22

This annual United Nations observation day is all about freshwater and the importance of access since 1993! World wide, there are approximately 2.2 billion people without access to fresh water. Use this day to brainstorm with some colleagues on how you and your team can help break this barrier for the billions without a clean water source.
Engagement Ideas
  • Learn about some world water facts and how this day can mean a lot differently for others somewhere else in the world!
  • Spend some of your evening after dinner watching a documentary about the current water crisis.

Earth Hour - March 26


Shut off the power and disconnect from the world for just 60 minutes. During this time, reflect on how you can reduce your technology time and engage in some mindful activities. Light some candles, accept the warm glow of the flame, and enjoy some simple, yet fun games and activities with friends.
Engagement Ideas
  • Turn your lights and unnecessary electricity off! Engage in some fun board games under candlelight
  • Step outside when it's dark, place a blanket on the ground and enjoy some time under the stars
  • Learn how others are engaging in Earth Hour across the world. It could spark some creative ideas for you and your friends/family!

Take a Walk in the Park Day - March 30


Spring is just around the corner, it’s time to celebrate! Enjoy the nice, crisp air by taking a stroll through your neighbourhood park. Grab a hot beverage to keep you warm, bring a friend with you, enjoy the company of a coworker, or simply appreciate some alone time! Let this walk reset your mind and body, feel the calmness of the wildlife around you and bask in the sunlight.

Engagement Ideas
  • Grab a coffee over your lunch break and take a stroll through your local park! If there’s no park in close proximity, take a walk through your neighborhood or the surrounding area outside your office
  • Call up a friend to join you on your walk, catch up and have some lively conversation!

International Transgender Day of Visibility - March 31


This day is dedicated to the celebration of all transgender or gender nonconforming individuals across the globe! Take some time to learn how you can show your support for this community, raise awareness and advocate for all those who face discrimination daily.
Engagement Ideas
  • Follow the timeline of the journey to equal rights and acceptance
  • Learn more about what it means to be trans, and how you are able to support this community!
  • Make a new email signature with your pronouns!
