Introducing our new online home – and a B2B focus on healthy organizations

Imagine you’re mid-shift at a busy restaurant. Everything is running smoothly — until a customer receives the wrong order. Despite your quick action and a sincere apology, he suddenly unleashes a loud, expletive-laced tirade. Shaken, you head to the kitchen to try and regain your composure.
While most people are respectful, workers in public-facing roles like servers, baristas, bartenders, and cashiers face a variety of stressors that, in many cases, have become more pronounced during the pandemic. That’s why we’ve partnered with companies like Earls to provide mental health and wellbeing support for their more than 6,000 employees.
If you’ve been following CheckingIn for a while, you’ll notice some big changes around here, specifically, our all-new website. We launched our mobile app in 2019 to help people increase self-awareness and practice daily mindfulness. We still provide this 24/7 tool, but we’ve shifted to focus on organizations of all sizes.

Why the change? We’re glad you asked.

Deeper support. Greater reach.

When Covid-19 hit North America in March 2020, many organizations were seeking new ways to support employees’ mental health. Most had EFAP and health spending accounts, but they wanted accessible solutions that people could use when and where they needed them.
In several of our partner companies, employees suggested that CheckingIn could help. As leaders reached out, we realized that by connecting first with organizations, we could support more teams and individuals with a full complement of tools.
At the same time, we were running a study with the UBC Department of Psychology to explore the efficacy of our mobile app. This project confirmed that CheckingIn supports greater wellbeing by helping people to become more mindful. We also ran partnerships with Startup Canada to make CheckingIn available to new businesses across the country. Our goal was to support entrepreneurs’ wellbeing, and over 200 organizations participated.
We also wanted to explore how the platform worked for companies on the brink of change. Across the country, and in BC specifically, many technology companies have been raising big funding rounds. Once companies receive this cash infusion, they often begin hiring sprees to build out their teams. Many startups found that prospective hires were eager to learn about the company’s health benefits – and those that provided CheckingIn could highlight their proactive approach to mental health and wellbeing.

Redefining our role

The answer was clear: by serving organizations and working closely with human resources and PeopleOps professionals, we could deliver a more comprehensive mental health and wellbeing platform. Today, we’re thrilled to unveil our brand-new website, and the full CheckingIn solution for teams and organizations. Here’s what it includes:
Diverse monthly programs
Support your team’s different needs and interests with tailored monthly programs that address the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of wellbeing.
Real-time Insights
The dashboard gives you a snapshot of team sentiments, trends, and program engagement. All data is anonymized for individual privacy, but aggregated team insights help you make more informed decisions.
Interactive workshops
Expert-led workshops bring each monthly topic to life. We’ve found and vetted the most exceptional speakers in their fields, so you don’t have to do the legwork.
Private mobile app
Individuals can improve mindfulness and self-awareness with confidential, 30-second daily check-ins — anytime, anywhere. People who want to go deeper can add notes and explore guided content.

A fresh, new look

As these transitions happened behind the scenes, it was time to polish up our brand and website. We wanted to share the story of CheckingIn as a complete mental health solution, in addition to the app that began this journey (and remains a cornerstone of our platform).
We hope you’ll take a look around and make yourself comfortable. If it feels like a good fit, sign up to receive our newsletter, or join our interactive Slack community. Let us know what you think – and thanks for following along.
